The Principles of Newspeak
This book was created from the Appendix of 1984, written by George Orwell. In it, he describes how Newspeak works. Within the story of 1984, Newspeak was a systematic language devised by a totalitarian government to limit people's ability to discuss and ponder "unorthodox" ideas such as truth, morality, rights, etc.
The screenprinted cover shows the Declaration of Independence almost completely crossed out. Words such as "creator", "liberty", "happiness", were left slightly visible so that the viewer could understand what the body of text is. In the book, Orwell mentions that if someone were to translate the Declaration of Independence it would equate to the word "crimethink" (the criminal act of holding unspoken beliefs or doubts that oppose or question the ruling party).
The layout of the book is rigidly clear and to-the-point. The type is set in DIN because of its utilitarian geometry and historical ties to governmental communication and technical documents. The large, justified columns, line-length, point size, and leading were all chosen to make you focus on the text.
Client needed a complete redesign of the SoloPap brand. SoloPap is an at home HPV & Pap Test kit which screens for Human Papilloma Virus and Cervical Cancer.
The task was to make SoloPap a more appealing product to women internationally. This was accomplished by creating a fresh new modern but friendly visual system that will resonate with many demographics of women. The new brand conveys the idea that SoloPap is an established medical product that is easy to use and incredibly convenient.

TASK: App Icons, Mobile Splash Screens, Marketing Collateral, Whitepapers, Postcards
AppStack wanted app icons & splash screens to represent Promote in the online marketplace well. The approach was to make the user feel a sense of energy and simplicity while using the Promote app. I created a white-paper to explain Promote to potential Partners. In addition, I created postcards to encourage Small-Medium Business owners to take advantage of advertising for the acquisition of new customers.
Task: Create a Campaign About Food
"Produce Organic" was designed and built on the idea that Organic Farming ought to be viewed as a Modern-Day practice; not a thing of the past. The content, derived from The Rodale Institute highlights the benefits of Organic Farming.
The poster and magazine spreads are intended to have a propagandistic style and feel. The simplified illustrations, color palettes and taglines resemble old war posters—all perpetuating the idea that you should "Produce Organic."
The site was hand-coded using a mobile first approach and included some php functions as well. For example, the slider images dynamically change based on the name of the page. And the Copyright in the footer automatically changes with the year.
This 24" x 36" broadside conveys the idea that relativism is simply wrong. This is accomplished through the presentation of Rudy Guiliani’s 9/11 Address to the United Nations in contrast with the ideas of Moral Relativism. His speech reveals the truth that we as moral agents, can sense that there is something objectively wrong about terrorism. Visually, the deconstruction of the letterforms suggests that meaning and clarity are being stripped away. Further, the cascading order and overlapping text reveals a destruction and degradation of meaning. The large white callouts serve the purpose of elucidating the war of ideas, as they are antithetical. The smaller, blue callouts help show what the speech is about and create a triangular movement around the piece.

Gather is a Church Service that is loud, expressive and open for everyone. It needed an identity that was warm and inviting but fresh and clean at the same time. The wheat symbolizes the "gathering of the Saints" (Mt. 13:30)

Genesis desired materials to encourage people to go solar and participate in "word-of-mouth" marketing through referrals. Can't go wrong with iPads & cash.
Calvary Vista wanted to give a certain room in their Church an identity for a particular night. "The Coffee House" identity was formed to foster a sense of fellowship and community in a warm and friendly setting.

Next Messaging is an iOS App that allows users to create text messages that send automatically at a scheduled time in the future. You simply sign in with your phone number using Twitter’s new software called Digits and you’re ready to use the app. Next Messaging makes it really easy to create, edit, schedule and send messages. It also has a feature which presents the birthdays from your contacts and allows you to schedule messages for the contacts you choose. One of the best parts of Next Messaging is that it is profitable. Users purchase packs of "auto-send" messages. The app is designed to get people to use auto-send messages so that they feel the need to purchase more.
